See Through.

Wednesday, May 05

Hi. :)

This week has been extremely challenging. In my effort to clear space in my schedule, I find myself busier than prior.

There is good in it - I can see that. Nonetheless, (sigh).

Back to the journal entry..

The problem with having an understanding of people and being self-aware is that you can easily end up censoring yourself out of being yourself. It's one thing to have an authentic thought, another to say it aloud. Being so aware of yourself and others is a gift but sometimes the awareness can feel like a burden when you want nothing more than to just say what you feel -

Ever experience this?

When you monitor and censor, what can ultimately come out is a half version of yourself.

So what do YOU do - do you 'tell it like it is' & take no prisoners? Do you state your true thoughts even when you know others will react to it harshly? Do you hold your tongue and just flow with your surroundings?

Really.. I'm curious. What do you do?

About Havilah Tower & The Seekers

Wednesday, February 24

Hi. I'm back.

Thursday, February 11

I took a break from sharing on my journal. A huge break. Does anyone read this anymore? Haha.

Funny. I have not listened to that song Seven Years in forever but feel drawn to. I will share it with you so you can read this with the same music I am writing it with.

Anyone who tells themselves they are not directly involved in their life experiences is not paying attention. You can see it in the words we use, the thoughts we think, the company we keep. We weave our lives on the most intricate and intimate level. It's amazing. If you really stop to grasp this concept, it can empower you. You can recollect your thoughts and decide which ones really serve you and others around you -- and which don't.

I think I'm more of a private person than I thought. Everytime I get on this journal to share, I pause, second-guess and sometimes delete. Today I'm pushing through because being too private doesn't ultimately serve what I want to do. Just interesting to observe that in myself.

I've met some of the most amazing people in recent months. I've thoroughly enjoyed being reminded how interesting the world, and people, are.

PS: Weird! I just posted this journal and did a double-take on my photo to the right and the video screen. haha That's strange.

Participate in our Band Fan-Raiser

Telling your friends about our music is a significant for us as a band.

I continue to share behind the scenes, raw and organic, singer/songwriter songs. Enjoy this clip of a song from our first release, In Lightning.

Come out to the House Concert on May 30 in Austin, Texas (Hyde Park). Details on our main page of our website.

Finally

Thursday, May 07

Been awhile.

So much to say but I stop myself - save it for a song, perhaps.

I want to share more of my songs with you - not quantity but quality...the raw stuff. But how? I've often spoken about the beauty of a song when it's first born. Very organic - almost like a new leaf...where you don't want to touch it too much lest it stop the development or worse, fall away completely. I've learned that songs (like leaves) are stronger than that - and grow stronger because of that touch.

The birth of a song continues to be my favorite time. To achieve my goal of sharing more of my songs with you (quality, not quantity), I'm recording a series of extremely new songs very soon after I write them - raw, unabridged, organic versions. I'll share them here because a Journal seems like the best place to share the raw stuff.

Music is an exchange -- so if you feel it, let me know. Your participation feeds my music as much as my music feeds you.
